Two chapters, eighteen pages, one morning: started at the desk 8:35 A.M., chapter 1 sealed 12:03 P.M., chapter 7 at 12:46. The margins did to McLuhan what they did to Baudrillard two days earlier — made him current on every page. The railway's new cities became Silicon Valley and Reddit; the printing press's slow churn met an instant Twitter thread; the pathetic criminal became First 48 and Netflix “cool”; the dead phone stripped modern people of all navigational ability; and the Taoist machine-heart parable was recognized on sight: “This 1000% is the sentiment or fear expressed in my first substack post.” The star and “The jist” landed at the first bars of a melody, glossed in his ink: “Knowing the illusions of the presentation of an idea to dig deeper as to why its formatted/spread in a certain container.”

Structure is scaffold; every quoted margin is his, verbatim from the annotated pages. Spelling ships as inked (ideallic, Louke, undescribable, dissapearance, Astralobe, Zuckerburg, ardantly, evistar, Teototillan, syphilus, praying, workes, fux). One arrow on p.3 glosses the print's “somnambu-lism” in two of his words: “Sleep Walking.” Every load-bearing word was resolved at native-resolution crops; four struck false starts are excluded, and one ambiguous stroke on p.7 is logged without a meaning built on it. Nothing in this batch is held private.
